PEIRMTA Music Composition Workshop with Kitty Xiao - Click Here to Register

An in-person composition workshop for composers of any age or experience level. Students learn about how to start the creative process, the importance of details in musical ideas, and how to expand upon musical ideas that have been created. There will be two workshops offered: one for students and one for teachers.

About Kitty Xiao
Kitty Xiao is an Australian composer, electronic musician and pianist. Her music is represented by the Australian Music Centre, Move Records, and she is the recipient of the 2021 Denis Diderot [ A-i-R ] Grant, Château d’Orquevaux (FR), 2021 Sounds Australia Export Stimulus Program (AU), 2020 Belle S. Gitelman Award (US), 2019 Howard Hanson Large Ensemble Prize (US) and the Alfred Kitchin Scholarship (UK).

Kitty holds a Master of Music (Composition) at the Eastman School of Music (US), a Master of Music (Performance) from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (UK), Master of Teaching from the University of Melbourne (AU). She will be pursuing a doctorate in Music Composition at Columbia University in New York City beginning September 2022. Learn more about Kitty here:

PEIRMTA Members: $15 for Workshop Participant / $10 for Observer

Non-PEIRMTA Members: $20 (Participant and/or Observer)
