Melissa MacKenzie is a performer, creator, educator, and activist from Prince Edward Island. She’s trying to figure out how to build a life around storytelling, menstrual equity, and loving other humans. She holds an Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance from Sheridan College and studied piano and voice at the University of Prince Edward Island. Melissa is a co-founder of both Diva Day International (@ddivaday) and Kitbag Theatre.

In a non-COVID timeline, Melissa would have played the iconic redhead in Anne & Gilbert in the summer of 2020 under Rebecca Parent’s direction. Theatre credits include: Tuesdays & Sundays (Kitbag Theatre), good girl (Trailside Music Hall; 120 Diner), It’s a Wonderful Life (Magnus Theatre), Kitsault (Pucl & Price), Anne & Gilbert (The Guild), Crazy for You, Trap Door (Theatre Sheridan), Perfect Wedding, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Stephenville Theatre Festival), We Are Canadian, Soul of the Island (Charlottetown Festival Young Company).

Melissa has over a decade of experience in private music instruction, including voice, piano, music theory, and aural skills. As a vocal coach, Melissa specializes in use of placement and tone to enhance character, rooted in the firm belief that classical technique only informs and serves a healthy mix/belt. Perfect for ages 12 and up, Melissa wants to help you find your unique, healthy sound.
